Mataverde® Premium Cumaru is all heartwood and ranges in coloration from a yellowy brown to reddish browns to a nearly purplish cordovan color. Although the coarser graining itself appears somewhat like oak, the exotic color range is anything but and is both dramatic and beautiful. Like a hardwood floor inside your home, no two pieces are alike. This rich variegation reflects the untamed beauty of this spectacular, all natural species.

Physical Characteristics of Mataverde® Cumaru:
Mataverde® Premium Cumaru is a tough, dense wood with an irregular, interlocked grain and a coarse, wavy texture. With a density that is nearly identical to Mataverde® Ipe, it too is very resistant to termites and decay and exhibits Class A Fire Resistance.

Mataverde® Cumaru exhibits lots of character striping and color variation and will turn a soft silver color if left natural. Like Mataverde Ipe it is extremely resistant to shrinking, splintering, twisting, cupping and checking. From a durability standpoint, it is extremely hard and dense and will resist all types of punishment. Mataverde® Cumaru has an extremely high rating and is naturally resistant to decay throughout all fibers of the wood. Its high density and natural oils make it highly resistant to termite attacks as well.

With a bending strength of 22,400 psi (almost as high as Ipe) and a hardness of 3,340 lbs (more than double the toughness of Oak), the only decking product that is stronger is Ipe. Mataverde® Cumaru has very good dimensional stability and shows only minor movement after manufacture. Mataverde® Cumaru is kiln dried to minimize shrinkage and checking to provide a deck surface that is just right for you.
