Santa Maria hardwood has been receiving incredibly positive feedback from the green building and design community. Ever since we introduced the species, the look and physical properties of this medium-high density hardwood has been garnering lots of interest. Santa Maria hardwood is a sustainably harvested wood species.  As an FSC Certified 100% Pure siding, decking, soffit or porch flooring material, Santa Maria qualifies for LEED credits on appropriate projects. Sustainable yield forestry ensures that harvesting is performed legally in a responsible manner that ensures that there are as many mature trees left twenty years after a harvesting cycle ends as there were at the beginning of the cycle.

Santa Maria is a beautiful hardwood species that looks like a slighly lighter version of genuine mahogany. Its great all natural good looks and figured graining have created the opportunity for this species to be used on a variety of different project types including exterior rainscreen wood siding projects, soffits and more. Santa Maria hardwood can be stained a wide range of colors to either complement or match the color scheme of a project or design.

For additional stability and beauty, we cut all of our Santa Maria wood using the quartersawn method. By quartering the Santa Maria logs and then sawing the boards in this manner, vertical grains are exposed and graining and figuring are enhanced. This intricate sawing technique also minimizes any radial expansion or contraction of Santa Maria wood. Our Santa Maria hardwood is then kiln dried for added stability, ensuring long years of beautiful usage.
