Rain Screen Installation: Climate-Shield is User Friendly

As I was reviewing an architectural detail for the Climate-Shield Rain Screen System today, it made me smile. It has been a while since I looked at this particular wood siding detail and when I saw it again today, it reminded me just how user friendly the Climate-Shield System truly is. The inventor of the Climate-Shield rain screen system was frustrated by what he discovered to be problems with other rain screen clip systems designs. So he set to work to create a better rain screen system that eliminates these design and installation problems and concerns. When he was finished, the Climate-Shield Rain Screen System was born.

The Climate-Shield Rain Screen Wood Siding System is the most user friendly rain screen system available on the market. From a design standpoint, architects and designers are free to create horizontal, diagonal or vertical siding designs for rain screens on residential or commercial buildings and structures.  The rain screen system itself is elegant in its simplicity. By eliminating the need for furring strips, the rain screen system design is cleaner and more functional. The elimination of structural elements that can impede the removal of moisture from a home or building creates a better and healthier sustainable design.

Great care was also taken in the design of the Climate-Shield rain screen clips and the siding profiles for this unique rain screen system. Installers have had lots of great comments about the Climate-Shield Rain Screen System. If you are a siding contractor or installer, you will appreciate the thoughtful approach that was used in creating each of the rain screen components.

For example, the Climate-Shield rain Screen Clip has rounded corners and no sharp edges. To a do-it-yourselfer this may not seem like a big deal. To a building contractor, who makes his or her living with their hands, not getting cuts on their hands every time they reach into a box for more clips is a very big deal and eliminates a major potential production slow-down.  The wide base and two screw-hole design of the rainscreen clip don’t seem very important at first glance either.  If you have screwed in clips with one hole, though, you will instantly notice that the Climate-Shield rain screen clip doesn’t spin around and you don’t have to screw the fastener at an awkward angle.  Little benefits and time savings like these add up quickly over the course of an entire job.

The rounded edges of the Climate-Shield Rain Screen wood siding profile serve several important functions. For the wood siding installer, the rounded edges mean less chances of getting a splinter. Anyone who’s ever gotten a splinter in the middle of a job knows how irritating and time consuming splinters can be. The gap created by the profiled edges on the top and bottom of each siding board also help to create a beautiful architectural shadow line.  Because the edges of the rain screen wood siding are slightly rounded, the profile design creates smooth and uniform visual sight lines. This helps to minimize and hide any slight variances in the building elevation details for better visual and curb appeal.

We listen carefully to the concerns of architects, designers, builders, installers and owners. Many of the new innovations for this system come directly from requests from our clients. That's how the Climate-Shield Rain Screen Starter Rail - siding installers asked us for an easier method of developing a level starter course of siding. Architects ask us for different cladding profiles for their specific projects and we work together to help them create the perfect rain screen design for their project. The Z-girts were developed specifically for client projects where exterior installation was required. The list of innovations we develop for client needs continues to grow every day. We are here to help architects, builders and owners develop the best solutions for their building or structure. Please feel free to let us know if we can help you with your project.
