We thought it would be a good idea to renew our testing for Mataverde Ipe hardwood decking and siding while we were having our Mataverde Cumaru hardwood and FSC® Certified Mataverde Machiche hardwood decking and siding tested for flame spread and smoke requirements, as well. After thorough surface burning fire testing, Mataverde® Ipe hardwood decking and siding has once again exceeded the requirements for a Class A fire rating, based on the latest ASTM fire testing requirements.The fire test results for Mataverde Ipe decking and siding conclude that this durable, reliable and extremely beautiful high density hardwood decking and siding material is a “Class A” Fire rated hardwood building material.

The flame spread and smoke testing were conducted according to all the pertinent criteria to meet ASTM E84-10 testing, "Standard Method of Test for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials".

The fact that Ipe hardwood decking and siding achieved a Class A fire resistance rating didn’t surprise us as much as the fact that this testing is nearly identical to several other highly regarded fire test criteria.
