Coney Island Boardwalk, Brooklyn, NY
The Coney Island Boardwalk is an enduring national treasure that has hosted generations of visitors since the 1920's. Every year this historic seaside boardwalk supports millions of sightseers, cyclists and vehicular traffic such as police cars and sanitation crews. Although the Coney Island boardwalk withstood decades of harsh coastal weather, in 2009 and 2010 many areas of the Coney Island Boardwalk were in need of restoration. In addition to repairs of the substructure, worn and decayed boards were replaced with Mataverde FSC® Cumaru decking which was selected for its strength and ability to withstand the punitive coastal conditions.
